# To New Horizons

Thank you for sticking with me through this course.

We have only begun to scratch the surface of what is possible with Linux. I encourage you to dig deeper and fly higher with your newly gained knowledge.

To give you a final little nudge along the way I want to point out a few topics that where not mentioned or that I mentioned but briefly and that are worthy of attention.

  • Security is a topic that is deeply ingrained in Linux and that we skimmed very briefly some might say not at all
  • Linux offers advanced networking and inter-networking capabilities that can stagger the mind
  • Linux offers a rich layer of functionality for interacting with hardware both directly and in an abstracted fashion
  • Scripting in your shell as well as using the shell as glue between higher level scripts is a fascinating topic
  • Kernel programming is a beast onto itself, as is SELinux
  • Linux style permission management and compliance monitoring in multi-tenant environments can fill books on its own
  • Applications of open source software and the licenses associated with the FOSS community are a broad topic suited to long debates around the fireplace

Good luck and remember Rule No.1: It has to work.
